Chrome Extension

The JobAssistAI Chrome Extension is your personal job-hunting assistant. It travels with you across the web, floating alongside job listings on supported portals.

How to Install

  1. Add JobAssistAI to Chrome — click the button on the Chrome Web Store listing.
  2. Click the Add to Chrome button.
  3. Confirm the permissions prompt. The extension only asks for access to read job descriptions on relevant domains.
  4. Once installed, click the puzzle icon in your Chrome toolbar and pin the JobAssistAI icon for easy access.
  5. Log in to your JobAssistAI web dashboard. The extension will automatically sync your session!

Panel Overview: Two-Tab Interface

The floating panel has two tabs to keep your workflow organised:

🏠 Home Tab

The default view. Detects the job title & company, lets you pick a CV profile, and generates a tailored cover letter with one click. Use Copy-n-Track to save the job to your dashboard.

🧩 Add-on Tab

Designed for application forms with extra questions (e.g., "Why do you want to work here?"). Scans the job portal page for form fields and uses AI to draft contextual answers for your review before submission.

Universal Job Tracking

Not all jobs are posted on major portals. If you find a job on a custom company website or unlisted portal, simply click the Track active page as Job button at the bottom of the extension panel.

Privacy & Security First (GDPR Compliant)

When you click "Track this Job", the extension securely captures the visible job details and opens your JobAssistAI dashboard to continue the flow.

  • Zero Storage: We do not keep copied job-page text on your device after handoff.
  • No Background Scraping: Data is only extracted exactly when you click the manual track button.
  • Secure Handoff: The transfer happens only for your current action, then the flow continues in your dashboard.

Add-on Assistant — AI Form Helper

Many job portals include additional application questions beyond your CV — such as motivational questions, competency questions, or salary expectations. The Add-on Assistant helps you draft high-quality answers to these questions in seconds.

  1. Open the extension panel and switch to the Add-on tab.
  2. The extension scans the page and displays any detected application questions.
  3. AI-generated draft answers appear in editable cards beneath each question.
  4. Review, edit, or click Regenerate on any card to get a new draft.
  5. When you are happy with all answers, click the AI Response button to fill the form fields on your behalf.

⚠️ This is NOT an Auto-Fill Tool

The Add-on Assistant does not automatically fill or submit any form without your direct instruction. Every step requires your active presence and approval:

  • You must manually switch to the Add-on tab to trigger the question scan.
  • Answers are displayed for your review and editing before anything is written to the page.
  • The form fields are only updated when you click the "AI Response" button.
  • The extension never submits your application. You remain fully in control of the final submission.

Best Practices for Great Results

  • Pin the extension so you can quickly see when a job page has been detected.
  • Always use Copy-n-Track on jobs you apply for to maintain your centralised Kanban board.
  • Always read and edit Add-on answers before injecting them — AI drafts are a starting point, not a final submission.

Warning

  • Do not enter PII (Personally Identifiable Information) data in the Job description, as that is used by the AI model.
  • Only install the extension from the official Google Chrome Web Store to guarantee GDPR compliance and secure data handling.
