Job Search

Discover your next career opportunity with our powered Job Search tool. Integrated directly into your dashboard, it searches thousands of live UK listings, applies smart relevance filtering, and learns which jobs you are not interested in so results stay meaningful every time.

Finding Your Next Role

Navigate to Job Search from your sidebar. Enter your desired job title and preferred location. Our engine pulls live listings from Reed.co.uk and then applies smart post-filters before showing you results.

AI Search Suggestions

Struggling to find the right keywords? Click Generate Suggestion. Our AI analyses your Master Profile and fills in the search fields for you.

  • No quota cost: Generating a suggestion does not consume a search credit. You can edit the suggested values before you search.
  • Full Profile mode: Considers your entire work history for a broad keyword set.
  • Latest Job Only mode: Focuses on your most recent role for a more targeted search.

Advanced Filters

Click Advanced Filters to access extra controls that sharpen your search before it is submitted:

  • Radius: Restrict listings to within a set distance of your location.
  • Salary Range: Set a minimum or maximum salary to exclude listings outside your target band.
  • Job Type: Toggle Permanent, Contract, Temp, or Part Time. Only the selected types are sent to the search engine. By default Permanent is selected.
  • Date Posted: Filters results by how recently the job was listed. The default is Last 7 days, ensuring results are current. Set to "Any time" if you want a broader view.

Advanced filter values are always active even when the panel is collapsed. Check your settings before each search if you want different defaults.

Smart Relevance Filtering

Job portals return results based on full job descriptions, not just titles. Searching "IT Project Manager" can return hundreds of unrelated roles because the phrase appears anywhere in the description. JobAssistAI applies a title relevance layer on top:

  • Only jobs whose primary title segment contains your keywords are shown. Secondary clauses after separators such as " - " or " | " are ignored to prevent false matches.
  • All meaningful words in your search phrase must appear as whole words in the title. Partial matches and substring matches are excluded.
  • The results banner shows how many relevant results were found and, in brackets, how many the portal returned before filtering.

Results Sidebar

Once results are loaded, the sidebar on the left lets you refine the displayed list without running a new search:

  • Job Roles, Location, Companies: Click any item to filter the grid to only that value. Click again to clear it.
  • Sorting: Sort by Date Posted or Salary Range, ascending or descending.
  • Dismiss a whole role: Hover over any Job Role item in the sidebar and click the X that appears. All jobs with that title are dismissed in one action and will not appear again in future searches.

Dismissing Jobs You Are Not Interested In

Every job card has an X button that appears when you hover over the card (always visible on mobile). Clicking it marks that job as "not interested" and removes it from the current view and all future searches.

  • Dismissed jobs are stored in your profile and excluded automatically from every subsequent search.
  • They will not reappear in your search history when you revisit the page.
  • You can control how long dismissals are remembered in Settings > Job Search Preferences. The default is 30 days, after which a dismissed job may reappear naturally. You can also set it to Never to keep them dismissed permanently, or clear the entire list at any time.
Tip: Use role-level dismiss from the sidebar for quick bulk cleanup. For example, if 30 results are "Office Manager" and you are not interested, one click on the X next to "Office Manager" in the sidebar dismisses all 30 at once.

Saving Jobs to Tracker

Click the heart icon on any job card to save it to your Tracker. The system automatically captures the title, company, salary, description, and date so your records are always complete. Saving a job does not consume a search credit.

Understanding Your Search Quota

Each plan includes a set number of searches per period. Our quota system is designed to count only genuinely productive searches:

Happy Search Guarantee: If a search returns fewer than 10 new jobs (jobs not already in your history), your quota is not consumed. Repeating the same search within a short window also does not count.

FAQ

Why do some results say "filtered from X on Reed"?

Reed returns results based on the full job description. Our title relevance filter then removes listings where your keywords only appear in the description, not the actual job title. The banner shows the original Reed count and the narrowed relevant count so you know what was filtered.

Why do I see fewer results with Date Posted set to Last 7 days?

The date filter is applied after the Reed API call, on our side. Reed may return up to 100 results, but only those posted within your chosen window will be shown. If too few results appear, try extending to Last 14 or 30 days.

Why do dismissed jobs still appear after I reload the page?

They should not. Dismissed jobs are excluded both from your search history on page load and from all new searches. If you see a dismissed job reappear, it may be because your dismiss expiry period has passed. Check Settings to adjust the expiry window.

Does favouriting or dismissing a job cost a search credit?

No. Only the search action itself can consume a credit, and only when 10 or more new results are found. Saving, dismissing, and filtering are all free.

What happens when my quota is exhausted?

The Search button changes to "Upgrade to Search". You can visit your subscription page to increase your limits or wait for your next reset period.
